Animate compositionWon
hundred’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection is inspired by contemporary
dance and body movement. Contemporary dancers searched for ease of
movement using the body's natural lines and energy, allowing a greater
range and fluidity of movement than conventional dance techniques.
Likewise the shapes and silhouettes from Won hundred this Spring/Summer.
The
range is ultra feminine with full circle skirts and empire dresses.
Combined with tailored suiting in hand dyed silks. Wrap cardigans and
wrap shirting’s twisting tight around the body, worn with wide trousers
and ankle long skirts. Oversized jersey blazers and thin transparent
jersey wrap skirts are worn together with fluid silk deconstructed
shirts. A play with wrapped garments and oversized shapes, mixed with
ultra tight jersey. The charcoal hand drawn prints are expressing
movement and rawness inspired by fire, a classic expression often used
in modern dance.
“What is form? Form is the memory of spiritual content. When do form and content meet?
Form and content meet in action”.
Action
wear and body movement has also inspired the men’s wear. Classic jersey
materials, such as pike, are combined with minimalistic tailoring.
V-necks make a comeback in waffle knit cotton and mercerized cotton
jersey. Technical sportswear is a big influence for the minimalistic
outerwear in popping colors such as blue and red.
“The dance is
an animate composition in space. Dancing is movement made significant,
technique used to express spiritual content in intelligible form”.
